Distinguished Jury

Dr. Shivji Joshi

AFIAP, Hon.FIP, Hon.ECPA, FPAC

Dr. Shivnarayan Joshi, fondly called Shivji Joshi, is a Gold Medalist in MA Philosophy, a subject that he had been teaching at JNV University, Jodhpur. His works on life in Rajasthan had set the standards for desert photography in India. His meritorious journey in Photography is spread over more than 30 years. An Ex-President of FIP, Dr. Shivji Joshi, was recognized with Rajasthan State Lalith Kala Academy Award in 2013. In addition, he was presented with Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bikaner Photojournalist Association in 2018.

During this 30 year journey, Dr. Shivji Joshi had won more than 250 Awards including 10 Gold Medals. He also won more than 900 acceptances in National and International Salons. Two of his pictures, including "Carrying Water", got published in National Geography Magazine. His pictures were also published in Photography Year Book, England, Popular Photography, USA, Nikon Calendar 2010 and several other international and national magazines. He has conducted more than 30 One-man Shows in USA, Singapore and several Indian cities.

Dr. Shivji Joshi has conducted several Desert Photography workshops and had been a mentor in several other workshops organized all over India. He had conducted more than 10 batches of free Basic Photography courses at the Gurukul of Photographic Art, Jodhpur. He has a rich experience of being part of the jury in over 75 National and International Salons including the ones organized by the Photo Division, Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Govt. of India, Lalith Kala Academy, Lucknow and Lalith Kala Academy, Admedabad.


Mr. Adit Agarwala

FRPS, EFIAP, Hon. EFMPA, Hon. PESGSPC, Hon. F.TPAS

Mr. Adit Agarwala, is another veteran in photography with more than 30 years of experience. Hailing from Ghaziabad, he retired as Assistant General Manager in Reserve Bank of India. He is the co-author of the books 'Learn Photography' and 'Experimental Photography', published by Photographic Association of Dumdum, Kolkata. He served as the Associate Editer of the "View Finder" journal published by FIP every month.

He has won more than 100 International and National Awards and over 1200 Acceptances. from 10 different countries and 150 National Awards. He was the first Indian to be awarded in the "Photojournalist of the year" contest organized by PSA.

Mr. Adit had been part of many National and International Photographic Salons since 1987.


Mr. A G Lakshminarayan

EFIAP, ARPS

Mr. A.G.Lakshminarayan started his photographic journey in 1972 and learnt photography from the world famous pictorial photographer late Dr. D.V.Rao. He is a specialist in creative photography, macro and bird photography. A specialist in photoshop, he conducted many digital post processing workshops for beginners and advanced photographers.

He concentrated only in creative section of international salons and got 66 awards and over 500 acceptances. His works were exhibited all over the world. He had been a judge in many Salons and contributed articles to many reputed Kannada magazines.


Mr. B Srinivas

FRPS, MFIAP, Hon.FCS

Mr. Srinivas Bhajanehatti, is fondly referred to as "Dhronacharya" of Wildlife Photographers in Bangalore. He had guided and helped many amateur photographers participate in Salons and win International Distinctions. He was one of the best experts in printing and provided printing services to all the leading photographers of his time. His printing skill in Black and White as well as in Color has helped nearly 32 photographers in achieving 48 various international distinctions. His interest in wildlife and photography started during his high school days in 1976. His father, a professional photographer himself, was his first Guru. Later on when he started learning from Shri. C Rajagopal, his photography and printing skills soared to new heights. Under his guidance and encouragement, shri B Srinivas participated in many salons and won innumerable awards. He achieved his international distinctions from RPS and FIAP at a young age of 35, possibly among the youngest to achieve this honor.

He has to his credit more than 550 acceptances, 50 awards and 46 certificates in National Salons and 196 acceptances, 23 Honorable Mentions, 18 awards in International Salons. He has been a judge for FIAP distinctions continuously from 1990. He was also on the panel of jury of many National and International Salons.

He was part of the team of jury in many Salons, notably the Aorld Cup held in Bangalore in 2014. As photography moved from films and prints to digital, he too moved to the digital world quite late in his carer. At 65, his passion for photography is still burning bright.


Mr. M N Jayakumar

FRPS, MFIAP

Mr. M N Jayakumar pursues a lifelong passion for protection of wildlife and conservation of natural resources. After 4 decades in Indian Forest Service, Mr. Jayakumar retired as the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary, Zoo Authority of Karnataka. He has had the privilege of travelling extensively across various National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in India, capturing the essence of nature through his camera. Mr. Jayakumar has won numerous awards and Certificates of Merit in National and International photography salons. His photographs have been displayed across exhibitions in India, England, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland, Australia, Scotland, USA and South Africa. Select images have also been published in leading newspapers, magazines and books of National and International repute. He has also authored the book Life in the Jungle: Memoirs of a Forester. He had been on the jury of many salons.


Dr. Manoj C Sindagi

ARPS

Dr. Manoj C Sindagi is a passionate nature photographer. He has won more than 100 awards including awards in BBC Photographer of the Year Competition and two-times as Wildlife Photographer of the Year from Sanctuary Asia. He had been a Judge in many national salons. His photographs have been widely published.


Open Judging

The judging procedure of the salon will be open to the public to attend and is not restricted to participants or to YPS members. While the judging is ongoing, the attendees must observe complete silence and in no way are allowed to question the ethics of the jury.

Youth Photographic Society® has developed a system for live diplay of scores at the venue of judging. After initial individual scoring of images by the jury, the jury will be able to use the system to filter images by scores and by other parameters to assist the jury in finalising the awards. All finalised awards and acceptances are then uploaded to the Salon website after verification. The same will also be intimated to the entrants through emails.

Youth Photographic Society

Youth Photographic Society (YPS) Bengaluru, the hosts for this contest, is a not-for-profit organization started in 1971 to further the Art of Photography. With over 400 members, YPS is among the largest Photography Clubs in India and also boasts of hosting 44 National and International Salons. It has been nurtured by doyens of Indian Photography like Late Mr. T N A Perumal, Late Mr. E Hanumantha Rao and Late Mr. C Rajagopal. The club conducts regular slideshows on every first and third saturday of the month, alongside exhibitions and workshops, for the benefit of its members.
